Glycyrrhiza glabra, also known as licorice, and liquorice, is a flowering plant of the bean family Fabaceae. The plant is native to western Asia and southern Europe and is one of the most used herbs in European medicine. The plant has powerful anti-inflammatory properties, is neuroprotective, and promotes gut health emulating probiotics. The herb is also used to combat allergies and asthma.
