Eschscholzia californica, also known as golden poppy, California sunlight, cup of gold, or California poppy, is a species of flowering plant in the family Papaveraceae. The herb native to the US and Mexico and is beneficial in promoting relaxation and sleep due to its calming effect. California poppy has sedative, pain-killing, and antispasmodic properties but is gentle enough for children. It has been used to normalize psychological function in both adults and children.
